Our gastroenterologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of problems with the digestive tract, including the esophagus, liver, bile ducts, small and large intestines, pancreas, and gall bladder. Each of our physicians is certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine.
James E. Cremins, MD
Dr. Cremins earned his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York, and completed a residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. A member of several professional medical organizations, Dr. Cremins has published papers on esophagogastroduodenoscopy and iron-deficiency anemia in major medical journals.
Nelson L. Ferreira, MD
Dr. Ferreira earned his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC. He completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at The George Washington University Medical Center as well. Among his professional memberships are the American College of Physicians, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Gastroenterological Association.

Christine Lewis, MD
A graduate of the Howard University College of medicine, Dr. Lewis completed her internal medicine residency at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and her gastroenterology fellowship at New York Medical College in Valhalla. Dr. Lewis is currently the only female gastroenterologist in the Hagerstown area.
Juan A. Tayler, MD
Dr. Tayler earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Santa Maria, Brazil. He completed his general residency at Boston Veterans Administration Medical Center and his gastroenterology residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. He is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
